Liiiiverpool.

Hi all. Yesterday Charlotte, Annika, Pili and I went to Liverpool for the day. It was kind of a late birthday present for Charlotte. I've been wanting to go to Liverpool since I started listening to the Beatles so needless to say, I was verrrrrry excited about it.

The only bad thing about our trip was that the weather forecast said "heavy rain" and it wasn't lying. It rained nonstop while we were there, and not just sprinkling, but big, heavy raindrops.

When we first got there we  went right to Albert Dock, which is... a dock. I guess it's been renovated not too long ago and it's really nice. There were a lot of ships out in the water and we walked around in a big circle (with some of it covered so we escaped the rain) and I stopped and bought some post cards. The boy who sold me the post cards though... whoa. I could hardly understand him. I've heard that scouse (Liverpudlian) accents are hard to understand but I thought I'd be alright by now. The strangest thing about his accent is that he said "reet" instead of "right." Someone asked him if he was hungry and he said "I'm alreet." So strange. I noticed that there was a "scouse dictionary" for sale in that shop as well but seeing as I'd only be there for one day, I passed. Here are some pictures from Albert Dock.

After Albert Dock, Charlotte, Annika and I went to the Beatles Museum while Pili went to the Maritime Museum because she had already been there. I took tons of pictures there but I won't post a lot of them because, it turns out, pictures of museums are a lot less cool than the real museum. This was a good chance for us to get out of the rain too. Annika asked me just about every single time she saw a picture of the Beatles, "which one is that?" She was usually pointing at George or Ringo, but by the end of it, she had it down pat. The coolest thing I saw in there was the piano John Lennon played in his "imagine" video. There was also a psychedelic section where we walked through a yellow submarine and there were "cellophane flowers of yellow and green" with bubbled all around. I liked that part.

After that, we ate, shopped and eventually headed back to the train station to go home. Apparently there had been a "football" game that day so there were a bunch of drunk football hooligans on the train singing and chanting and just being general ruffians the whole way back to Lancaster. Overall, I think it was a pretty good day. I really liked Liverpool actually. I did love London but Liverpool was a lot smaller and quieter. Reminded me more of home too, probably because of all the rain!
